What to know about termites
- The problem
- The most expensive pest problem a building can have, and the least visible. Damage is structural and is generally not covered by home insurance.
- How you know
- Mud tubes on foundation walls, timber that sounds hollow, discarded wings near windows after a swarm.
- What the work involves
- An inspection first, then either a soil-applied barrier or a baiting system. Warranties matter more here than in any other part of the trade.
