What to know about birds

The problem
Pigeons and starlings roosting on ledges, in signage and in roof spaces. The droppings are the health issue and the nesting material is the fire risk.
How you know
Fouling below a consistent perch, nesting in gutters or solar panel gaps.
What the work involves
Proofing — netting, spikes and mesh — rather than removal, since an unproofed ledge simply refills. Most species are protected while nesting.
