What to know about fleas and ticks

The problem: Fleas usually arrive with a pet and survive in carpet and soft furnishing. Ticks are a yard and perimeter problem and carry real disease risk.
How you know: Bites around the ankles, flea dirt in pet bedding, ticks found after time in long grass.
What the work involves: Flea work needs the property and the animal treated together, or it recurs. Tick work is perimeter and vegetation management.
